About Our Policy

Who We Are

Skar Organics is a trading name of Skar Organics Limited. A UK company based in England. As an EU company we operate under GDPR guidelines and when the UK leaves the EU, we will still operate under those regulations for dealing with EU customers.

Why We Collect Data

We collect data for the purposes of fulfilling our order to our customers and for the distribution of marketing materials (should you opt-in to receive them)

Who We Share Your Data With

Data collected through order and through comments and interaction on the website is not shared with any third party or marketing companies. We keep information provided through sales to fulfil those orders and to abide by legal obligations in the UK for record keeping such as accounting, anti-fraud measures and health safety records.

As such, information such as your name and delivery address will be kept on file by ourselves and neccessarily processed by our accountant. Your details may be requested by surpervisory authorities in the United Kingdom or the European Union to investigate a data breach for example.

How Long We Retain Data Obtained Through Ordering

There is no time limit for the retention of the your details provided in the process of ordering from Skar Organics. The data we collect is already as minimised as possible (i.e. we collect only the information required to process the order) and as such this data forms part of our record keeping for accounting and other legal requirements in the UK.

How Long We Retain Data Obtained Through Using the Website

For data recieved through the website: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

You may ask for Skar Organics to delete this data at any time (see below)

Right to Be Forgotten

We will delete all user data from the website and any online records of your purchase should you ask us to. We must retain a physical copy of your invoice for the purposes of statutory record keeping in the United Kingdom, however.

Technical and Organisational Security Measures

We handle your information with the due care required.

The Skar Organics website is SSL encrypted so you can be sure that your order can be placed safely and securely. Just make sure that your browser is up to date with the latest version.

Skar Organics don’t process our own card payments and use the widely recognised and safe payment services of PayPal and Stripe. We do not store information regarding details of payments on the website itself and these link into our PayPal and Stripe accounts – thereby keeping your data and payment methods in safe hands.

Information Collected Through Ordering

Name and Address

When ordering for Skar Organics, your name and address will be collected in order to deliver a shipment of our products and create an invoice for our records.

Email Addresses and Phone Numbers

When you place an order, your email address will be required to send confirmation emails and updates on the delivery or production of your order.

Payment Details

Information regarding your method of payment, the monetary value of that payment and the status of your order’s payment (such as invoice sent, payment recieved, payment cancelled) are collected in order to process your order.

We do not keep a record of your bank details as this is handled by PayPal and Stripe, the payment services that we use.

Information Collected When Using the Website

Comment Data

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website (such as through comments), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact Form

When you enter your contact info and message into the contact form on the website that just goes directly to our support email address. Once responded to, your enquiry just stays in our inboxes for future reference.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

We do not track you for analytics on your visit to this website. All we get is the standard WordPress JetPack extension telling us that someone has visited a page on the website and how often that is happening.

Skar Organics Limited (t/a Skar Organics) are the data controllers and a data processor for your interaction with this website and when placing an order in that we collect our client’s data and exercise overall control of the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.

Other organisations may request your data through the use of this website such as PayPal, Stripe, your bank or the email opt-in in the account section of the website. These organisations are data processors in that they gather information from you when going about ordering or using the website.

When using these processors, they require your consent to use the data that you provide them and you will be informed when you are providing data to them. PayPal, Stripe and your bank will tell you that you are now communicating directly with them rather than this website and you can choose to consent to send that information. Unless you have signed up for other processing of you data (such as PayPal requesting funds from your bank account) with these organisations, you data can go no further.

Skar Organics Limited can request that your data is deleted from these organisations at any time should you choose to request this however financial information regarding payments made to Skar Organics Limited (t/a Skar Organics) can not be deleted.

Data Processors when Ordering

When placing an order with Skar Organics you may be asked by a data processor such as your bank, PayPal or Stripe to enter details into their forms or to log into your profile on their websites. You will be notified when you are transferred from the Skar website to theirs and have the choice at that point to consent to entering your details.

Marketing Data Processors

When sending out marketing emails that you have opted into, some of your personal data will be processed by an automated email service operated by the third party extension Mail Chimp. Mail Chimp must comply with GDPR also as data processor serving persons in the European Union and as such you have a right to unsubscribe at any time with no reason provided. We will get that email stating that you have unsubscribed and your data will be deleted from the mailing list.
